Edmonton is about to enjoy some relatively warm daytime highs after a brutal cold spell; however, the forecast hints at a big temperature drop in the next 24 hours.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Edmonton is set to experience a temperature change of 18 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s high of 6ºC will be the warmest point of the week, while tonight’s low of -12ºC is set to be the chilliest. Talk about weather whiplash!
With the thaw followed by a big freeze, things could get pretty dicey on the roads by tomorrow morning, especially with snow beginning this evening and carrying through into Wednesday.
ECCC forecasts that two centimetres will fall this evening, while we can expect to see two to four centimetres fall on Wednesday.
For the rest of the week, things appear to thaw out. Thursday and Friday will see respective daytime highs of 5ºC and 4ºC, with overnight lows hovering at or above the freezing mark.
By the weekend, temperatures look fairly mild, with a high of 2ºC on Saturday before we dip back into the negatives on Sunday.
