University of Alberta graduates rank among Canada’s most employable

If you’re a University of Alberta student thinking about life after graduation, a new ranking highlights how well your education may be viewed by potential employers.

Times Higher Education (THE) released its graduate employability rankings on Thursday, and the University of Alberta cracked the top 10 among Canadian universities.

The 2025 Global Employability University Ranking reveals the top universities according to recruiters at leading companies and focuses on which schools are best at preparing students for the workforce.

Of the 10 Canadian universities that made the list globally, U of A placed sixth.

The University of Toronto ranked as the top Canadian institution in terms of employability, followed by McGill University, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Montreal.

“Many ideas and inventions that began at the University of Toronto have had a significant impact on the global economy, whether through start-ups, commercial partnerships or businesses,” THE wrote.

“In disciplines from medicine to engineering, the university attracts world-leading scholars to undertake groundbreaking research and transfer that knowledge to students.”

As for U of A students, the ranking is a good sign that those degrees carry some weight in the job market!
