The report provides rental insights for January across Calgary and Edmonton, including average rates for furnished and unfurnished units, and it’s especially helpful for Edmonton renters searching for a deal.
In January, the average rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom unit in Edmonton dropped by $28, bringing the monthly cost to $1,311 — a $16 decrease over the past six months.
When you break it down by neighbourhood, Downtown Edmonton saw the largest price increase in unfurnished one-bedroom rents (+1.14%), while West Edmonton (-6.54%) and Northwest Edmonton (-5.33%) had the biggest drops.
For furnished one-bedroom units, Downtown Edmonton was the only area with a price hike (+7.82%), while West Edmonton experienced the steepest decline (-3.09%).
Edmonton’s most expensive neighbourhood for renters is Southwest Edmonton, liv.rent reports, with the average one-bedroom unit renting for $1,387 monthly.
Following closely behind is Southeast Edmonton, at $1,373 per month, and Downtown, at $1,353.
If you’re looking to cut costs, the biggest bargains can be found in West Edmonton, where one-bedroom units rent for $1,219 monthly, followed by Northwest Edmonton ($1,237) and Northwest Edmonton (1,237).
