Porch Light Books, a new independent bookstore, opens in south Edmonton this weekend, and we can’t wait to pick up a paperback or two!
The store, which began as an online shop inside Michael Hingston’s home in 2020, is set to welcome visitors to its first brick-and-mortar location in the Mill Creek area this Saturday.
The bookstore says its grand opening will be held from 10 am to 6 pm, and it’ll be giving away packs of Edmontonia trading cards with purchase. You can enter a raffle to win one of two $50 gift cards to the shop.
It’s set to sell used, new, and rare book titles, so you know it’s going to be a total gem!
The shop is located inside the old Catholic Social Services Building on 99th Street, which is also home to Frank’s Pub, an exciting new neighbourhood bar set to open soon.
We also love that it’s neighbours with The Colombian’s newest coffee shop because what’s better than grabbing a coffee and doing a little book shopping? Porch Light Books will also have free donuts and coffee coupons to give away from the crew at The Colombian this Saturday. What a treat!
With spots like Glass Bookshop recently closing, we’re so glad to see new local bookstores opening up in YEG!
