Over $10,000 raised for family of Alberta man killed in snowmobile crash

More than $10,000 has been raised in a GoFundMe for the family of Mike Moore in central Alberta after he was killed in a snowmobile accident over the Family Day long weekend.

Moore was killed on Sunday, Feb. 16 while taking part in the Alberta Beach SnoMo Days at Alberta Beach, leaving behind his wife and children.

A GoFundMe set up said that Moore was a “devoted, self-employed father, whose life was tragically cut short in a freak accident. While warming up his sled on that cold day, the throttle unexpectedly got stuck and froze in place. Despite his desperate efforts to stop the sled, Mike lost his life in a heartbreaking, unforeseeable accident that was not due to human error.”

It added that his death has left his family with no income, and his children now face “massive” financial challenges.

“Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward supporting his kids—helping cover expenses for their activities, education, and daily needs—ensuring they have the resources to carry on his legacy,” the GoFundMe added.

As of writing, the campaign, which has a current goal of $60,000, has amassed more than $10,000 in donations.
