Nearly $25,000 raised for Griswold House owner after falling seriously ill

Nearly $25,000 has been raised for the man behind the iconic Griswold House in Alberta after a GoFundMe revealed he is currently very ill.

The GoFundMe campaign for Jon Harringa, who many know as “Mr. Griswold” due to decorating his Stony Plain home like the iconic holiday film, popped up over the weekend and was started by his son, Reid.

“My dad is very sick right now, he was away at work when he ended up getting Influenza A and pneumonia which has affected his organs,” the GoFundMe stated.

After a week passed, Jon’s condition worsened, and he was transferred by air ambulance from Weyburn to Regina, Saskatchewan, where they had to place him on a ventilator and in an induced coma due to his condition.

“The ICU team has informed our family that until he is stable and off the ventilator transferring him to Edmonton is not an option. It could be weeks or months. That means for my mom, siblings, and I to go see him will have to be in Regina.”

As of Monday morning, the GoFundMe had raised nearly $25,000 in support of the Harringa family.
