McDavid’s wife Lauren will play big part at Draisaitl wedding

Edmonton Oilers fans have another big wedding to look forward to and Connor McDavid’s wife is set to play a big role in it.

The hockey world celebrated McDavid’s wedding last summer. Now, the attention has shifted to Leon Draisaitl, who got engaged to longtime girlfriend Celeste Desjardins over the offseason.

Draisaitl proposed while on vacation in Spain, with Desjardins enthusiastically saying yes and then posting to social media directly afterward.

“The easiest yes. I love you forever,” Desjardins captioned an Instagram post of the moment.

It has not been announced whether Draisaitl and Desjardins have picked a wedding date, but preparations are already underway for the big day. The latest development revealed that McDavid’s wife, Lauren, will serve as Desjardins’ maid of honour.

Lauren confirmed this through an Instagram story on Monday night.

“So honoured to stand up there with you and be your [maid of honour],” Lauren captioned the post. “Love you more than anything. You’re getting married!”

Lauren and Desjardins are longtime friends and this should not come as a big surprise to anyone who has been keeping tabs on the personal lives of Connor McDavid and Draisaitl. The two have been seen together plenty of times at Oilers games and even shared an adorable moment last season when Edmonton defeated the Dallas Stars to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

There has yet to be any word on who will be in Draisaitl’s wedding party on the big day. It’s safe to say that McDavid has the inside track of being one of the German’s groomsmen. Perhaps former Oilers defenceman Cody Ceci could also be potentially involved as he had a strong friendship with Draisaitl during his time in Edmonton.

We’ll have to wait and see for more information to be revealed as the wedding draws closer.
