Lottery winner revs up for retirement with huge jackpot

A regular day at home became an extra-special one for a Canadian lottery winner who is one step closer to his retirement goals.

Cory Maxwell of Abbotsford, BC, decided to check his ticket for the November 29, 2024 Lotto Max draw.

He soon realized he had matched all four Extra numbers, scoring him a $500,000 prize.

“I didn’t believe it at first. It took me a little bit of time,” Maxwell said of the moments after he checked his ticket using the BCLC Lotto! App.

The Fraser Valley resident first told the good news to his wife.

“She was shocked too!”

Maxwell bought the winning ticket at the Otter Co-op Mount Lehman Gas Bar on Blueridge Drive and Mount Lehman Road in Abbotsford. He said that he plans on saving most of his winnings for retirement but will celebrate by purchasing a new vehicle.

And how does it feel to win?

“Epic!”
