Christmas has come early for a Canadian lottery player, and now he’s hoping that retirement will, too.
Hung-Chieh Chou of Surrey, BC, was sitting in his car when he decided to check his Lotto 6/49 ticket.
“I used the BCLC Lotto! App,” Chou shared of the moment he realized that he won. “I thought that it was a lot of zeroes.”
The Metro Vancouver resident was most excited to tell his wife the good news.
“She said, ‘Are you sure?’ She was excited to know it was a real win.”
Chou bought the winning ticket at Century Books on 100th Avenue and 153rd Street in Surrey and plans on celebrating with a big dinner.
He adds that he will use the windfall to pay off his mortgage and hopes to retire early.
Chou had a simple yet powerful response when asked how it feels to win.
“It’s incredible. I feel blessed.”
