Lottery player celebrated winning huge jackpot by high-fiving the cashier

A trip to the grocery store turned out to be a lucrative one for a Canadian lottery player who is now half a million dollars richer.

Peter Haggarty of Vancouver, BC, was left stunned after he learned that he matched 4/4 Extra numbers from the November 9, 2024 Lotto 6/49 draw, earning him $500,000.

“I was at Save-On-Foods,” Haggarty shared. “When the cashier saw that I had won $500,000, they were so excited they high-fived me.”

He was actually in the same grocery store where he purchased his winning ticket, the Save-On-Foods on River District Crossing in Vancouver.

Haggarty added that he was most excited to share the news with his wife, who was waiting outside the store with their dog.

“She was in disbelief,” he said.

And how does it feel to win such a big prize?

“Surprised. Grateful. I plan on going on a nice vacation!”
