Getting around a lively new hotspot just south of Whyte Avenue is about to get much easier, with a new bike lane and shared pathway set to begin construction along Happy Beer Street.
Home to nine breweries and counting, the district, spanning 22 blocks, has quickly become a go-to destination. But if you’ve been here recently, you know how tough it can be to find parking and even sidewalks in this busy, semi-industrial area.
The new shared pathway aims to change that by offering a safer, more convenient way to walk, bike, or roll into the district. It will run along 100th Street, from 83rd Avenue to 72nd Avenue NW.

Planning and design for the new route and several other routes throughout the city are underway, and construction is expected to begin in 2025.
A total of 25 routes are expected to begin construction in the new year, adding approximately 24 kilometres of bike lanes to the network.
And while cycling may not be on everyone’s radar right now, it’s worth a second thought! Bike Edmonton and the City have teamed up to give out free studded winter bike tires to keep cyclists moving year-round.
