The tech company revealed rankings of Canada’s 2024 Year in Search on Tuesday.
“Canadians were glued to their screens this year,” reads the report. “As 2024 comes to a close, it’s time to look back at the trends and topics that had us searching for answers.”
From Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s rap beef to the divisive Canada Post strike, the list definitely gives an insight into what was on Canadians’ minds over the course of the year.

“This year, Kate Middleton captivated the nation, topping the list of trending people, followed closely by political heavyweights like Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. In the sports world, Olympic athletes like Imane Khelif and Canada’s Summer McIntosh made waves,” reads the report.
“Meanwhile, musicians like Usher, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan took the main stage. Finally, the tragic passing of celebrities and athletes like Liam Payne and Johnny Gaudreau left fans in mourning.”

Under movies, Inside Out 2 took first place for most searches, while Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Canadian Ryan Reynolds, was the eighth most searched movie of the year.
Kendrick’s Drake diss tracks “Not Like Us,” “Meet the Grahams,” and “Euphoria” were the top three most searched songs in Canada, while none of the Canadian rapper’s songs made the list. If you need an indication of who the clear winner was in that rap battle, this is probably it.
