Edmonton returns to a deep freeze this week with a temp swing of 34 degrees

Warmer temperatures around Edmonton have brought welcome relief from winter, but the weather is set to take a dramatic turn come February 1, with a 34°C drop in temperature to kick off the month.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, today and tomorrow will be the warmest things get for a while, with highs hovering between 5°C and 6°C.

The forecast shows a gradual cooldown through the week before taking a plunge on Saturday. ECCC predicts a high of -19°C to kick off next month, followed by a punishing low of -28°C. Ugh!

When you do the math, that’s a 34°C temperature swing in less than a week. It’s time to put those parkas back on!
