Canadian soccer star Alphonso Davies was pulled over by police due to a suspected case of drunk driving earlier today, according to a German report.
In an article co-authored by Karl Keim, Dennis Brosda and David Verhoff for Bild, Davies was reportedly stopped by German police while driving in his Lamborghini sports car in the early hours of Friday morning in Munich.
Davies reportedly tested to a BAC of 0.6, with 0.5 being the legal limit. A fine and suspension of his licence are possible for Davies, given it is his first offence, per Bild’s article.
Davies, Canada’s current captain, has been with Bayern Munich since 2019, winning the 2020 UEFA Champions League and five Bundesliga titles. A 24-year-old born in a Ghanaian refugee camp to Liberian parents but grew up in Edmonton, Davies is arguably Canada’s biggest current male soccer star.
Davies or Bayern Munich have yet to comment on the story.
