Canadian lottery player wins second prize in time for the holidays

One extremely lucky Canadian lottery player has more than one reason to celebrate the holidays after a big win.

The Lotto Max draw took place on Tuesday, December 17, and the jackpot is worth $15 million. The winning numbers were 13, 16, 27, 39, 43, 45, and 50, and bonus 36; however, no one won the top prize.

But someone will be taking home the second prize after they matched six of the seven winning numbers and the bonus number. According to PlayNow, the second prize was worth $150,663.70, and the ticket was sold in Ontario.

The third prize will be split between 26 lottery players who matched six of the seven winning numbers. Each of them will receive $5,794.80.

In BC, no one won the Lotto Max Extra worth $500,000. Similarly, no one won the $1 million Encore prize in Ontario.

Someone in Canada will soon claim a life-changing prize after winning a $40 million Lotto Max jackpot during the December 10 draw. The winning numbers were 03, 06, 22, 30, 32, 40, 46, and bonus number 19. According to OLG, the ticket was sold in southwestern Ontario’s Wellington County.

There have been quite a few big winners this month.

Two people split the $80 million prize during the December 3 Lotto Max draw.

One of the two winners, Jean Lamontagne, was at work when he checked and discovered he’d won a staggering $40 million prize. The 60-year-old from Montreal didn’t waste time sharing the news with his bosses first, adding that he’d take advantage of the Lotto Max windfall to retire earlier than planned.
