A deep freeze is invading Edmonton with a 31-degree temperature drop soon

Keep your warm mittens and winter jackets handy because a blast of cold air is set to move into Edmonton soon, with temperatures taking a serious nosedive.

The forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) shows that Edmonton is looking balmy for most of this work week, but a drastic change is on the way.

Daytime highs are forecast to be above freezing from Monday until Thursday, but things really take a turn Thursday night, dropping to -9°C alongside periods of snow.

The daytime high for Friday is -10°C, and the overnight low is a teeth-chattering -25°C, with the weekend shaping up to be a frigid one.

When you do the math between Tuesday’s daytime high and Friday’s overnight low, that’s a temperature difference of a whopping 31 degrees. We are already planning what shows to binge on Netflix all weekend while we stay warm indoors!
