RCMP search for ‘extremely dangerous’ suspect in stabbing near Westlock

RCMP in Westlock, Alta., are asking residents in the surrounding county to stay alert following a daytime stabbing in the area.

In an Alberta Emergency Alert message issued early Friday evening, Mounties say they believe suspect Tanner Nelson is on foot, armed with a knife and is considered extremely dangerous.

RCMP responded at 12:45 p.m. to a report of a stabbing at a home off Highway 44 near Township Road 603 in Westlock County.

Nelson stands six feet tall, weighs 200 lb., has brown hair and eyes, and was wearing a black shirt, grey pants and a hat.

Police ask anyone who sees Nelson to not approach him and to call 9-1-1.

Westlock, a town of 5,100, is located 72 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
