Edmonton breaks heat record for July 8

The City of Edmonton has set a new daily record high. As of 3 p.m., Edmonton has hit a high temperature of 32.3 C and that beats the previous July 8th record high of 32.2 C.

Temperatures will likely climb a bit higher through the later afternoon and we’ll update this story with the official high by Monday evening.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s unlikely that we’ll break the July 9th record high of 35.1 from 2015. We’ll get to a high of 33 or 34 degrees Tuesday.

But, July 10th’s record high of 33.0 from 2001 is certainly in jeopardy with the afternoon high expected to be in the 33 to 35 degree range.

Temperatures will likely drop out of the 30s for Thu/Fri/Sat in Edmonton. However, we’re still anticipating warmer-than-average temperatures as afternoon highs are forecast to be in the upper 20s.
