Edmonton police say a 17-year-old girl and a 77-year-old woman were hit while in two separate incidents on Thursday morning.
According to EPS, the teen was southbound in the east crosswalk on 103 Street at 107 Avenue around 9:35 a.m., when she was hit by a Hyundai Santa Fe that was heading eastbound.
The teen was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Santa Fe — a 41-year-old man — was not injured.
Just under an hour later, EPS responded to a separate incident of a pedestrian being hit while crossing a road.
It is believed a 77-year-old woman was in a crosswalk on 105 Street and 80 Avenue, when she was was hit by a different Hyundai Santa Fe, that was trying to make a left turn onto 80 Avenue.
The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver — a 60-year-old woman — was not injured and has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Investigators don’t believe speed or alcohol were a factor in either collision.
