Parkland RCMP has provided an update on their investigation into the death of a 5-year-old girl on Oct. 13.
Mounties from Parkland County say around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, they responded to a report that a watercraft had capsized on Wabamun Lake — roughly 50km west of Edmonton.
Later that evening, Mounties confirmed they had found two people, and recovered the body of a 5-year-old girl, who was confirmed dead by EMS and STARS after being pulled from the lake.
Thursday, RCMP said that through their investigation, they’ve learned that the boat that was originally reported as having capsized, never did.
Anyone who may have any information, or who may have been near Wabumun Lake between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 13, is asked to contact investigators at 825-220-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
