Pedestrian killed in hit and run on Highway 16 west of Edmonton

Police in Alberta say a pedestrian was killed in a hit and run on Highway 16 west of Edmonton on Tuesday night.

Evansburg RCMP say the pedestrian was struck on the highway west of Wildwood before 9:50 p.m. Their body was transported to the chief medical examiner in Edmonton, and police working to confirm their identity.

A portion of the highway remained closed for several hours but has since reopened.

RCMP are hoping to speak to any drivers on Highway 16 between 9 p.m. and 9:50 p.m., or anyone who witnessed a pedestrian on the highway. They can call 780-727-4446 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
