On New Year’s Day, Premier Danielle Smith issued a statement reflecting on the past year and outlining her hopes and commitments for the year ahead.
“As 2025 begins, we have the opportunity both to look ahead and reflect on the past twelve months. New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions, new beginnings, and refreshed commitments,” Smith began.
The Premier expressed pride in the work done by her government over the course of the previous year, despite facing significant challenges. “As I look back to the past year, I am struck with pride at the many accomplishments of our government on behalf of the people of Alberta. Despite challenges in the global economy and the intrusion of the federal government into areas of provincial jurisdiction, we have worked diligently to maintain our autonomy and ensure that our province continues to be a great place to live, work, invest, start a business, and raise a family,” she said.
Looking forward, Smith reaffirmed her government’s commitment to Alberta’s prosperity. “As the calendar changes over to 2025, I renew our commitment to all Albertans to continue to pursue opportunities that benefit our province, grow our economy and best serve the interests of Albertans,” she stated.
In closing, the Premier extended her warmest wishes to all Albertans. “My very best wishes to all for a joyous and prosperous 2025,” she concluded.
