Man charged in 2023 Zebra Centre arson

Edmonton police have charged a 38-year-old man in connection to the Oct. 24, 2023, arson at the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.

EPS says around 4 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2023, someone entered the building where the Zebra Centre is located by throwing a rock through the glass doors.

Once inside, the individual went to a storage area on the 13th floor, where boxes of stuffed animal toys belonging to the Zebra Centre were stored, and set them on fire.

The building suffered significant fire damage as a result of the blaze.

EPS says, at the time of the fire, several people were in the building, including on the 13th floor, however, it was not indicated if anyone was injured.

Since, 38-year-old Adam Christopher Neapetung has been charged with arson and disregard for a human life, breaking and entering, and breach of probation.

He was already remanded for other charges and is now facing the three additional charges in connection to the Zebra Centre fire.
