Fire crews in Stony Plain are investigating a fire that damaged two homes Sunday afternoon.
Stony Plain Fire Department responded to reports of the fire around 2:29 p.m. near Glenforest Crescent and 57th Avenue.
Residents of both homes as well as several surrounding homes were able to self-evacuate before fire crews arrived at the scene.
“Due to the size of the fire we called upon our mutual aid partners, Spruce Grove and Parkland County to assist. A total of 33 firefighters worked together to put the fire out,” said Fire Chief Trevor Mistal.
“It appears the fire started in a shed and quickly spread to the houses. Fortunately, no other homes in the cul-de-sac were damaged,” says Mistal. “The fire was under control within an hour, and no injuries were sustained.”
