Police say they are investigating a fatal collision near a high school in northeast Edmonton Tuesday morning.
The Edmonton Police Service says the collision happened close to M.E. LaZerte High School in the Kilkenny neighbourhood, across from the Londonderry Mall.
The mangled wreckage of the grey sedan could be seen scattered across 144 Avenue, with the vehicle torn apart into three major sections. One of those was wedged against a streetlight pole.
The area of 144 Avenue between 66 Street and 68 Street was expected to be closed to motorists for several hours as officers remained on the scene.
“Motorists travelling through this area should expect delays during their morning commute,” police said.
The EPS major collision division is investigating.
