EFRS battles 3 overnight fires around Edmonton

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services is investigating three fires that occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Just before 9:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a multi-residential structure fire at 80 Avenue and 106 Street.

When crews arrived, they noticed the fire was coming from the building’s rooftop.

Residents were evacuated from the building and assessed by paramedics, before one person was taken to hospital.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and the cause remains under investigation.

ERFS were called to another fire around 4:24 a.m., after receiving a report of a garage fire near 103 Avenue and 145 Street.

Crews responded and were able to bring the fire under control at 5:12 a.m., before it was fully extinguished at 6:18 a.m.

EFRS says no injuries were reported.

Lastly, fire crews responded to a report of a grass fire off Hayter Road around 3:55 a.m.

EFRS arrived to the scene roughly 20 minutes after the initial report and began to fight the fire which was posing a risk to a nearby commercial building.

Around 11 a.m., CityNews was told the fire was still active and firefighters were working to get it under control.
