A 33-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot by Edmonton police on Sunday morning, according to EPS.
Alberta’s police watchdog, ASIRT, is investigating the 4:40 a.m. shooting at a home on 109 Avenue and 93 Street.
Police say officers were called to the home after the suspect allegedly assaulted another man inside the residence.
When officers arrived, police allege the man exited the home with a weapon.
“A confrontation occurred between the suspect and police, resulting in the officers discharging their firearms,” EPS said in a news release.
“A gunshot was found to have struck a neighbouring residence, but no one in the residence was injured.”
Police say the man is in stable condition in hospital.
There were no other reported injuries.
