Edmonton police lay charges in 2022 homicide

Edmonton police have charged two people in connection to the death of Kyle Syryda in 2022.

EPS says on Dec. 7, 2022, they found a 39-year-old in medical distress in a suite near 119 Avenue and 105 Street.

Paramedics attended and declared the man dead.

In the initial stages of the investigation, police say witnesses had reported hearing gunshots.

An autopsy was later completed and identified the man as Syryda, and confirmed he died from gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, Apr. 7, 2024, police took 37-year-old Germaine Houle into custody and he was charged with second-degree murder.

On Apr. 24, police also charged 40-year-old Martin Dubitski with second-degree murder.
