Edmonton man faces additional sexual assault charges after new victims come forward

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has laid further sexual assault charges against a 37-year-old man following multiple incidents at an Edmonton area shelter.

Mika Katz, who may also be known as Michael Collins, was arrested on Thursday, January 23, 2025, after two additional women came forward to report similar assaults that occurred in August 2024.

Katz was initially arrested in September 2024 and charged with two counts of sexual assault after two females reported being assaulted at the same shelter.

At the time, Katz was released on conditions, which included staying away from women’s shelters and having no contact with the complainants.

However, following the recent disclosures by two additional women, Katz now faces two new charges: sexual assault and criminal harassment.

Investigators believe there may be more victims, as the incidents occurred on different dates and involved separate individuals. As a result, police are releasing Katz’s photo to encourage other potential complainants to come forward.

Anyone who feels they may have been harmed by the accused is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
