Edmonton man charged in Toronto shooting homicide

A man from Edmonton is facing a second-degree murder charge in a shooting homicide that took the life of a 32-year-old man in April.

Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers were called to the Lawrence Avenue West and Ralph Street area in Weston just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, for reports of a shooting.

A male victim was located with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene. He was later identified as 32-year-old Mohamud Abdi Duale of Toronto.

Authorities noted that a suspect or suspects fled the scene after the shooting.

On Thursday, TPS arrested 32-year-old Omar Mohamed of Edmonton, Alta. He’s facing a second-degree murder charge.

The accused was expected to appear in a Toronto court on Friday.
