Armed robbery suspects west of Edmonton: 1 charged, another still at large

Alberta RCMP has charged one man and issued an arrest warrant for another in connection to an emergency alert that was issued earlier this week in Mayerthorpe.

Mounties issued an emergency alert for the town west of Edmonton Tuesday morning, following a vehicle theft from the provincial capital. At the time, the alert indicated the men were near Mayerthorpe and were believed to be armed and dangerous.

Since turning himself in, 28-year-old Dakota Patterson, from Whitecourt, Alta., is facing nine charges, including kidnapping with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, flight from a peace officer, and failing to comply with probation, to name a few.

Additionally, police have been able to identify the other man as Santiago Patterson, from Grande Prairie, and an arrest warrant has been issued.

He is facing eight charges, including kidnapping with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and possession of a weapon, to name a few.

RCMP says despite Santiago Patterson still being at large, they don’t believe there is an imminent risk to the public.
