1 killed in morning collision east of Edmonton

Alberta RCMP says a 65-year-old is dead following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m., Mounties in Strathcona responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Township Road 54 and Range Road 214.

When emergency crews arrived, the driver of one of the vehicles — a 65-year-old Lac Ste Anne County resident — was already dead.

The driver of the second vehicle — a 42-year-old Spruce Grove resident — was treated at the scene, before being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mounties conducted an investigation at the scene for several hours, but note traffic flow is back to normal.

Alcohol is also believed to be a factor, and an investigation is ongoing.
