Change in REST hours of operations for Jasper evacuees in Edmonton

The City of Edmonton is adjusting the hours for the Rapid Emergency Support Terminal (REST) for evacuees from Jasper and Jasper National Park, as residents look to go back to their homes beginning Friday.

Starting on Tuesday, REST will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Since July 23, the City of Edmonton has registered more than 2,400 evacuees from Jasper and Jasper National Park at the Kennedale evacuation centre location. The site will continue to provide coordination services for evacuees’ immediate needs, including registration for lodging and food allowance.

All registered evacuees who need accommodations have been provided lodging. The Canadian Red Cross will continue to be on-site during operating hours to coordinate off-site lodging as needed.

Evacuees can obtain more information about Red Cross services at redcross.ca/albertawildfires or by calling 1-800-863-6582.
