Forbes ranks nine Edmonton companies among the best in Canada

Forbes has released its list of Canada’s Best Employers for 2025, and nine Edmonton companies made the list, with three of them cracking the top 100.

The business magazine partnered with Statista, a market research firm that surveys thousands of employees and analyzes data to identify the top companies worldwide.

Companies must meet several benchmarks to qualify for the list, according to Forbes, including the business size, years in operation, industry, and location.

Survey responses and other factors are then evaluated using a tailored scoring method, with the highest-performing companies making the final cut.

Of the list of 300 employers, the nine Edmonton companies to make the list included:

  • Workers Compensation Board of Alberta (#34)
  • AutoCanada (#58)
  • Epcor Utilities (#86)
  • NAIT (#118)
  • The Canadian Brewhouse (#139)
  • The University of Alberta (#142)
  • PCL Construction (#156)
  • ATB Financial (#168)
  • Stantec (#213)

Many of these companies were included on similar lists in recent weeks, including PCL Construction, which was named on Mediacorp Canada Inc.’s 2025 list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

The construction company and Epcor were also named on Mediacorp’s 2025 list of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.

Other Alberta companies on the Forbes list include Acuren in Sherwood Park and 14 companies based in Calgary.

The tech giant Google topped Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers for 2025, followed by Microsoft, Concordia University, Hydro-Québec, and The Hershey Company.
