It’s set to be a snowy 24 hours for Edmonton, with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issuing a snowfall warning for the city Tuesday afternoon.
ECCC issued the warning due to heavy snowfall in the forecast starting tonight in Alberta and into tomorrow, with total amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres expected.
Snowfall will begin in western Alberta this evening, spreading eastward through central Alberta by early Wednesday morning. The heaviest snow will fall during the day on Wednesday before tapering off Wednesday evening.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow” ECCC stated, adding that motorists should be prepared to adjust their driving with changing road conditions.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
Other areas under the snowfall warning include Drayton Valley, Camrose, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Whitecourt, Hinton, Sylvan Lake, and Spruce Grove.
Tomorrow is set to not only be a snowy one but a chilly one for Edmonton, too. ECCC is forecasting a high of -20°C and a windchill of a numbing -33°C in the morning and -27°C in the afternoon, with the risk of frostbite being present.
