Historic 110-year-old Edmonton apartment building selling for $3.5M

You could own a stunning historic apartment building overlooking Edmonton’s river valley, and it’s cheaper than entire houses currently listed for sale.

Annamoe Mansion, built in 1914, is located at 11950 100th Avenue in the Oliver (wîhkwêntôwin) neighbourhood.

Recently listed on the market for $3,500,000, it is a 25-suite historic apartment building constructed by Robert Childers Barton to accommodate Edmonton’s growing white-collar population before WWI.

Barton named the building after his birthplace, Annamoe, in County Wicklow, Ireland. Other notable buildings constructed by Barton are the stunning LeMarchand Mansion, Derwas Court Apartments, Buena Vista, and Westminster, according to Edmonton Historical Walking & Biking Tours.

The three-and-a-half-storey brick walk-up features nine studio suites, 12 one-bedrooms, and four two-bedrooms, with two balconies for the top-floor suites.

While no interior photos of this building are available, we imagine the units are just as full of character as the building’s exterior.

The building is designed to take full advantage of its river valley views, with windows spanning the front.

Plus, it sits right along the Victoria Promenade, making it a perfect spot for those who enjoy an active lifestyle!

Its red brick exterior features a variety of bricklaying patterns, creating a textured look accented by white-painted window frames, balconies, and supporting brackets. Stone elements add further interest, while red tile roofed canopies give the building a subtle Spanish flair.

The Annamoe Mansion is listed on the City of Edmonton’s Inventory of Historic Resources, making it eligible for designation as a Municipal Historic Resource.
