A United Airlines plane landing at YEG Edmonton International Airport was “disabled” Tuesday afternoon when its back wheel became stuck while taxiing to the terminal.
Emergency response services were on site “as a precaution” for any passengers needed assistance, an EIA spokesperson told CityNews.
The arriving airplane’s wheel got stuck “just off the maneuvering area” around 2:20 p.m., EIA said. Passengers were being offloaded from the aircraft about an hour later.
“All passengers were safely offloaded from the aircraft to the terminal and collected baggage shortly after,” the spokesperson wrote in an email.
By 5 p.m. the airplane remained stuck. “But it is not blocking the runway, and regular operations are unaffected,” EIA said.
