‘Tis the season for epic holiday food creations, and this year, there is definitely no shortage of tasty options. Fast-food chains from across Canada have put their thinking caps on to create some epic holiday eats.
Whether you’re looking for some festive sips, food coma-inducing handhelds, or feeling like more of a Grinch this year, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this holiday season.
The fast-food giant has teamed up with Dr. Seuss Enterprises on The Grinch Meal and other festive treats, which will be available at locations across Canada starting December 3.
The Grinch Meal features your choice of a Big Mac, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, or a McChicken Sandwich, a medium fountain drink, and a side of a brand-new addition: Dill Pickle McShaker Fries. Each Grinch Meal will also come with a pair of exclusive Grinch-themed mismatched socks.
In addition to returning holiday favourites like its Chestnut Praline latte, Caramel Brulee latte, and Peppermint Mocha, Starbucks launched its first-ever holiday refresher.
Called the Cran-merry Orange Refresher, it combines the festive flavours of tart cranberry, sweet orange, and warm spices such as cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg with green coffee extract. The beverage is shaken with ice, sliced cranberries, and your choice of water, lemonade, or coconut milk.
Plus, non-dairy drinkers can get excited because Starbucks has recently launched a new Oat Nog Latte. This drink features Starbucks’ signature espresso with steamed oats and warm hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. It can be served hot or iced.
KFC — Festive Double Down
KFC has launched two chicken sandwiches that pack all of the best holiday flavours into one handheld. The first is the Festive Chicken Sandwich, which features a seasoned breaded chicken fillet with stuffing, creamy mayo, and a tangy cranberry sauce between two buns.
Those wanting to take things to the next level can try KFC’s other holiday creation, the Festive Double Down, which offers the same filling but uses two breaded chicken fillets instead of a bun.
Subway — Holiday Sub
Subway is finally getting into the festive spirit with its first-ever holiday sandwich. The Holiday Sub is a turkey sandwich with cranberry dijon. The sandwich chain has also added a footlong gingerbread cookie to its menu, which it says is “perfect for sharing,” but we won’t judge you if you eat the whole thing yourself.
Back by popular demand, Tim Hortons is once again serving its line of nonalcoholic Baileys-flavoured treats, including its Baileys Cream Coffee, Baileys Latte, Baileys Iced Capp, Baileys Boston Cream Dream Donut, and the new Baileys Dream Hot Chocolate.
You can also order other tasty drinks, such as the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate or Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate.
