Cucumbers sold across Canada have been recalled due to salmonella risk

American cucumbers, which have been shipped to several Canadian provinces, are being recalled due to potential salmonella risks.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall notice for SunFed Produce whole fresh American cucumbers. The cucumbers are packaged in bulk cardboard containers labelled with “SunFed,” in generic white boxes, or in black plastic crates with a sticker with the implicated grower’s name “Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.”

According to a press release from SunFed, the recalled cucumbers were sold between October 12 and November 26, 2024, and shipped to several Canadian provinces, including Ontario, Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.

The recall in the US was initiated after the US Food and Drug Administration alerted SunFed that the cucumbers were associated with reported salmonellosis cases between October 12 and November 15, 2024.

The CFIA is currently conducting a food safety investigation into the cucumbers.
