Get ready, Edmonton, because some positive temperatures are finally on the horizon after a bitterly cold stretch of winter weather.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, tonight’s low of -20°C is the coldest it will be for a while before the weather gradually warms up throughout the week.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will see temperatures hovering between -16°C and -17°C, with Sunday warming slightly to -13°C.
The forecast is set to hit a balmy high of 2°C on Monday, and Tuesday’s high is set to be comfortably above the freezing mark, with a high of 7°C.
Between the highest and lowest point of the upcoming week, that’s a 27°C difference in temperature!
However, with the warmer temperatures, there will likely be plenty of slush to contend with.
If the heaps of snow we received last weekend weren’t already enough, ECCC forecasts a 60% chance of flurries this evening, as well as flurries predicted throughout the upcoming weekend.
So, you’ll want to bundle up for now, but get ready to enjoy a little sunshine — and make sure there’s plenty of washer fluid in your car for the week ahead!
