Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was seen busting some moves with his daughter at a Taylor Swift concert, and Canadians had a lot to say about it.
Videos being shared online show Trudeau and his daughter Ella at Rogers Centre on Friday night for the fifth show of Swift’s The Eras Tour in Toronto. In the short clip, Trudeau can be seen singing and dancing along. He then makes peace signs, making his daughter laugh and clap.

Trudeau has been quite open about being a Swiftie.
When Swift announced her tour dates in July 2023, Trudeau tweeted a response inviting her to Canada while referencing some of her biggest hits. Then, on November 14, he posted a tweet referencing her 2017 song “End Game,” stating, “We’re ready for you, Taylor Swift! Good choice wrapping The Eras Tour in Canada.”
Some netizens were delighted to see Trudeau enjoying a night out with his daughter.
So happy for our PM Justin Trudeau having fun with his family🌟🫶🌟

They hated Trudeau cause he took his kids to the Barbie movie. They hate him now cause he took his kids to a Taylor Swift concert. All I see a dad being active with his kids. But everyone relishes the grumpfest and reaches to hate whatever they can.

“Well, yeah. Who isn’t a Swiftie in 2024?” asked Redditor lol_ohwow.
Some poked fun at his “dad” dance moves.
“If I got to embarrass my kids with my dancing in a video that’s shared all over both traditional and social media, I’d call that a dad win,” stated one Reddit user, Anonymouse-C0ward.
“Good for him. He should be able to act like a dad and embarrass his daughter,” agreed spr402.
“Good for him. Politics aside, people should be able to enjoy time with their family. Bonus: I am happy to know I share the same dance moves as our PM,” wrote Seneca2019.
But not everyone found the wholesome night out amusing.
On Saturday afternoon, conservative leader Pierre Poilievre shared a video edit of Trudeau at the concert along with clips of the violent pro-Palestine protests that took place in Montreal on Friday evening.
“He has time to dance and do selfies. But he’s too busy to condemn a violent Hamas takeover of our streets,” wrote Poilievre.
Justin Trudeau refuses to condemn the anti-semitic riots in Montreal.

Others shared his outrage.
Trudeau is a disgrace.
The worst PM in history.

Demonstrate some leadership

Don’t specifically book a concert (that has five events you could attend!) on the night of an entirely foreseen riot when your important allies are in your country.
His silence was indeed deafening last night.

However, one netizen mocked Poilievre’s attempt to add a negative spin on Trudeau’s appearance at the concert.
God forbid someone take their daughter to Taylor Swift lol

Everyone mad that Trudeau was at the Taylor Swift concert last night during the Montreal riots please explain to me exactly what he was supposed to do by leaving? Like please have some common sense.
— Kristin Raworth (@KristinRaworth) November 23, 2024
Another suggested Poilievre “take the high road” and let Trudeau “be a dad once in a while.”
Seriously @PierrePoilievre I don’t like the guy BUT let him be a dad once in awhile…. Comments like this are not going to win you votes…. Take the high road….
— Me (@crbarfoot) November 23, 2024
Just minutes after Poilievre’s tweet, Trudeau shared a post on X condemning the violent protests, calling it “appalling.”
What we saw on the streets of Montreal last night was appalling. Acts of antisemitism, intimidation, and violence must be condemned wherever we see them.
The RCMP are in communication with local police. There must be consequences, and rioters held accountable.

But as people argued online, Reddit user OkBoomerEh wrote, “Can we just let a dad enjoy taking his daughter to a concert without making it a whole thing?”
