The Montreal Canadiens are set to face off against the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the Bell Centre.
However, fans looking to tune in may run into an unexpected issue: finding a TV broadcast in English. While RDS will carry the game in French, anglophone viewers across the country won’t have much luck flipping through channels like TSN or Sportsnet.
That’s because Amazon’s Prime Video is now the exclusive English-language broadcaster for all national Monday night NHL games in Canada. As a result, the Canadiens and Oilers have a combined total of nine games available only through the streaming service this season.

Prime Monday Night Hockey streams are available to anyone in Canada with an internet connection and an Amazon Prime account. Prime members will receive the games at no extra cost, while subscriptions are $9.99 per month or $99 annually.
Non-members can take advantage of a 30-day free trial, which provides access not only to live NHL games but also to the full Prime Video library.
The Habs kicked off the first-ever Prime Monday Night Hockey stream on October 14, with team owner Geoff Molson joining Amazon’s broadcast team of Adnan Virk, Mark Messier, and Blake Bolden during the first intermission.

Montreal has won only three of their last 10 games. Their latest victory came on Saturday as they dominated the Columbus Blue Jackets in a contest that concluded in a 5-1 score.
The Oilers, meanwhile, are also dealing with a mediocre start, riding a 9-7-2 record so far this season. However, they have gone 6-3-1 through their last 10 games, with superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid leading the pack, combining for 44 points on the year already.
Puck drop for tonight’s matchup is set for 7:30 pm ET/5:30 pm MT.
