Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry may have a future on the big screen whenever his hockey career is said and done.
The 39-year-old, in his first full season with the Oilers, recently starred in a skit with Edmonton car dealership Capital GMC Buick. The rugged winger, known for being a pest on the ice, played a similar role in the skit, where he worked, or at least attempted to work, at the dealership for a day.
“Droppin’ gloves, snipin’ sales, and givin’ 110%. Corey joined our team for the day and, well, just watch,” Capital GMC Buick’s Instagram page wrote.
“I’ve won a Stanley Cup, Olympic golds, and played in countless All-Star games,” Perry says in the video. “Today, I’m selling cars in Edmonton.”
Throughout the hilarious skit, it becomes evident that Perry doesn’t quite cut it when it comes to car sales. He not only has zero idea what residual value means, but at one point, even attempts to fight a coworker.
Perhaps the funniest part of the entire video comes when Perry is asked how his first day is going. Fittingly, he gives one of the most cliché hockey answers imaginable.
“You know what, good first period. Things are going well, everybody’s giving 110 percent,” Perry said. “Things look good in the office. We’ll see where the second period goes.”
Thankfully for the Oilers organization and its fanbase, Perry has a much more positive impact on his ice than he did at the dealership.
While nowhere near the Hart Trophy player he was in his prime years with the Anaheim Ducks, he’s proven he can still be a solid secondary scorer, and he’s done just that early this season, registering three goals through 17 outings.
