Edmonton police say a man on an electric dirt bike struck a 68-year-old on an LRT footbridge on Friday night before riding away.
The victim was found injured on the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge, the walking path next to the High Level Bridge, and later died of his injuries in hospital.
Tuesday’s autopsy determined the man died of blunt force injuries. It was determined the death was accidental.
Investigators allege the 25-year-old driver of the dirt bike “immediately fled the area without calling for help or medical assistance” after striking the man.
Police arrested him Sunday and charged him with dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
