Edmonton police investigating suspicious death in downtown parkade

The Edmonton Police Service’s homicide unit is looking into the suspicious death of a man in a downtown parkade that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint in a parkade in the area of 101 Street and 102 Avenue around 12:15 p.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male with significant injuries. EMS responded and treated the man, but he was declared deceased on scene,” police said in a statement.

A man was taken into custody shortly after the incident, according to officials.

Police did not say if any charges were pending. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.
